30 Second Miracles
Miracles Happen (Most) Everyday; we just need to open our eyes to welcome them, and open our hearts to embrace them 💗
“Miracles Happen Most Every Day …to people like you and me.” 🎵
This is a line taken from my favorite Christmas movie as a little girl. One that has stuck with me for generations now- not knowing it would lead me to this point in life…
I never dreamed I would be writing a blog, especially one that journals my personal life. But, sometimes when God leads you down a path, it’s just better to obey. So, here I am. Trusting with all my heart, and leaning not on my own understanding … and so, I write…
WELCOME to a blog that inspires. One that reminds us to not only embrace each day, but to look around us, and see the miracles (both great and small) IN each day. Even if those miracles only last 30 seconds… be grateful for them. Give thanks for all that surrounds you. Take in the beauty and wonder of this world. As, THAT in itself is a miracle!
The task is easy… just read the “blog episodes”, reflect on someone else’s daily miracle… AND then, go out and embrace your own!
A few caveats… Caveat #1: Throughout this blog I will be using the word “God”. While reviewing my writing with a friend, he asked, why do you use “God”, does it always have to be “God”? Here’s my explanation... If you look up the word “God” in the dictionary, you will get multiple results. So, whatever “God” is for you, please feel free to interject that when you read. Be it “the divine”, “the universe”, “the force” (for you Star Wars fans), fill in the blank for yourself. As for me, and my faith journey I will stick with God (I truly hope that doesn’t offend anyone). I have seen and experienced too many miracles (both good and bad) to believe in anything less than a power much greater than myself, and I just happen to call this power God.
Above all, I truly want this blog to meet you where you are at, so wherever you are in your journey, please don’t let my use of the word “God” deter you. I hope you can take in the overall premise and feel the love and encouragement I am trying to bring to each and every one of you 💗 .
…Caveat #2: Many people think they have to read lengthy complex books/articles/blogs to get inspired and to try to find the best versions of themselves. I beg to differ. I’ve done a lot of that and have found that the best way to truly get in tune with who you are and your purpose here on earth is, yes to read (though it depends what you choose to read), but in all reality, it’s about spending time alone with yourself.
I encourage folks to find their “church”, AKA their “peace place”...It can be your actual church; roaming the campus grounds, or in the chapel; or it can be taking long walks; riding a motorcycle; escaping to the mountains; or driving in your car with the windows down and singing at the top of your lungs...whatever it is, I encourage you to find your place, and spend some good, quiet, intimate time - just you and your higher power. You’ll be surprised at what you learn when you quiet your mind, listen and just BREATHE…it is in these quiet moments that I reflected on, and wrote (and continue to write) my 30 second miracles…
I began this work in 2017 - it was The Year that Broke Me (I call it my “time in the pit”). I started by “labeling myself”- which, by the way I Hate (with a capital “H”) labels! But I did it anyway… I guess that’s how you know you’re “in the pit” when you are doing things completely out of character.
So here you go my (2017) “labels”: a young, innocent, damaged, single, married, divorced, devastated, professional, partnered, completely broken, and single again gal who turned out job-less, and working a profession she had 15 years ago (serving cake), just to pay the bills and support her two children – but she’s really a neat person –she’s getting back on track. She’s the one and only her… and she’s learning that SHE is pretty ok!
And so I give you A Blog By the 2017 “just Jen”, who turned “Dr. Jen” … Enjoy!
Acknowledgements
There are way too many people to thank for helping me and supporting me through this process, and most didn’t even know I was writing. All I will say is if you’re reading this and thinking – “yep, she’s talking about me” – you’re probably right!
…So to YOU, thank YOU! 💗
