Miracles of the Day: Episode 4

Oh Sweet James…

Written October 14, 2024 (Current Day Miracle)

James is our cat …or should I say my youngest son’s cat. He’s an absolutely amazing pet… but , can I confess… I am NOT a cat person. I have ALWAYS been a dog person… but when my sons’ convinced me, I gave in, and (against all of my being ) turned into a pet / cat owner …(times 2). You see we adopted two brother kittens… James and Otis … a few years ago when my oldest son started tracking these rescue kittens on social media . Honestly, it was a super sweet story and I am/was glad to be a part of these cat’s lives. When we got the kittens we trained them well, and it was a win-win…they were indoor/outdoor cats for quite a while (which meant no litter box and not too much effort on my part) …but as soon as on an incident happened (aka. Otis was hit by a car) my youngest son decided that James needed to be a mostly indoor cat from now on. If you’ve been following my stories, you know that I have moved 6 times in 7 years, and yes… the cats came with us each time. Well, flash forward to this latest move - where my son decided that we now had an exclusively indoor cat… and the scene was pretty funny, yet kinda sad. For the first month James would paw at the big windows on the back patio… I felt like I had a caged prisoner. Totally NOT my style, I’m a big “embrace the freedoms life gives you” kind of person - yes, even for a cat! And so, at my “breakfast club” meet up with a bunch of very sweet ladies this morning they were explaining some of their situations and that they felt a little stuck. I explained my “pawing-prisoner James story” and said… don’t be like “James” - a prisoner pawing at the window trying to get out - GO out and explore… and if you get eaten in the process, at least you were eaten while living your best life !!

So “welcome” to the rest of the James story (the miracle) … after my breakfast club meeting I went back home and was talking with my son about it and how I was feeling awful about not letting James out, and something switched in him and he said, “ok Mom” we can let him out! Woot, woot!… GO out and explore James, and Live Your Best Life (and please try not to get eaten in the process) !!

Here’s another little tip/great song to live by… I Lived by One Republic
